Aged Cigars

I've had the opportunity to smoke a few aged cigars lately. Most were Cuban, some were Dominican or Honduran. Out of the lot I think my favorite was a Bolivar Corona Extra. I smoked a few examples that were 7 years old. They had mellowed into great smokes. They burned perfectly, and produced lots of smoke. They had an interesting fruity taste that I had never experienced while smoking a Bolivar. They also still had some strength left as well.

I'm curious what smokes you think would be good candidates to age? Also, what type of packaging do you think is best for the aging process? Slide Lid Boxes, Cabinet boxes, cellophane on or off? I think you should leave the cellophane on. I also think cedar cabinet boxes, left unopened, are best for aging your cigars.

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day about aging cigars, and he told me he had an old box in his fridge that had been there for years! I don't think your fridge is a great place to store cigars.
