happy new year

Happy new year everyone!! I think I will light up a Fuente Opus X Double Corona and a Montecristo No 2 to celebratethe new year. I had the opportunity to try a Diplimaticos No 2, an H. Upmann No 2 and a R & J Belicoso over Christmas. I thouroughly enjoyed both the Diplimatico and the R & J Belicoso. The R & J was a smooth, almost sweet tasting cigar with lots of smoke and great aroma. The Diplimatico was also a great smoke. It burned very well, and was a little stronger and earthier smelling than the R & J.

However, I wasn't too impressed with the Upmann No 2. It smelled very earthy and the taste of the cigar before I light it was peppery. After lighting, the first third was a bit harsh, with not a lot of flavor. It did mellow a bit as I smoked it, but it never really lost that harsh feeling in the back of my mouth. It might have been a recently rolled cigar, I do not know when it was rolled.

I also smoked a few Casillas cigars, namely their Double Corona size. Unfortunately, their local shop near my house closed. So I will have to order from their Sacramento, CA shop or their Reno, nevada store. They blend Dominican and Honduran tobacco inside C.S. or Cameroon wrappers. I prefer the C.S. wrappers because they seem to add a mellowness to the blend.

Again, Happy New Year!! I hope all of you are able to enjoy a few good cigars to bring in the new year!

Holiday smokes

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone had a good Christmas. I was able to smoke quite a few good cigars this holiday season. We had some port, wine, scotch, and beer to acompany our smokes. Tomorrow I will review the cigars we smoked--some great, some good, and some average.
