trying new cigars

I have a few "staple" cigars that I know I can count on. However, I certainly enjoy trying new cigars. I would say most do not taste or perform as advertised. Sometimes they taste or smell nothing like the reviewers or tobacconist described. I find it is best to trust your own experiences as a cigar smoker and decide what cigars to try based on your own assumptions or desires. How does the wrapper look? Where is the filler tobacco from? Gently press the middle of the cigar to check if it is properly humidified or is it dried out (that is another topic). Smell the foot of the cigar. And of course check the price. Expensive doesn't always mean great. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
